IPCC Publishes Updated Climate Change Metrics

Latest AR5 Values Provide Guidance for Climate Action

Methods and Data Released in Annex Document

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has published updated metrics and methods for assessing climate change impacts in its Fifth Assessment Report (AR5). The report released in 2014, provides comprehensive guidance for scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders working to understand and address climate change.

The AR5's Synthesis Report (SYR) provides an overview of the state of knowledge on climate science, while a separate annex document presents detailed metrics and methods for quantifying climate change and its impacts.

The use of the latest AR5 values is strongly recommended for research, policy, and action on climate change. These values include updated global warming potentials (GWPs) for greenhouse gases, which are used to compare the climate impact of different gases.

The IPCC website (www.ipcc.ch) provides access to the full AR5 report, including the SYR, the annex document, and other related resources. For more information, please visit the IPCC website.
