Hiddenite Man Charged in Road Rage Shooting at Alexander County Bank

Man Faces Multiple Charges After Road Rage Incident
On Tuesday, August 9, 2023, a Hiddenite man was arrested and charged in connection with a road rage shooting that occurred at an Alexander County bank.
According to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place at around 11:30 a.m. at the First Citizens Bank in Taylorsville. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Christopher Allen Bumgarner, allegedly fired shots at another vehicle following a road rage altercation.
The victim, a 57-year-old Taylorsville man, was not injured in the shooting. However, his vehicle was struck by gunfire.
Bumgarner was located and arrested a short time later. He has been charged with the following:
- Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
- Discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Bumgarner is currently being held in the Alexander County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
